PROBLEM: The company had just suffered through Hurricane Harvey and their office was completely flooded out. Forced to relocate, the company was able to get internet service right away but not their phone numbers for several months because it was outside of their service area. The options they were given were to call forward their office numbers to other number – which involved additional fees and higher per minute charges - or put a recording on it saying to call another number. They also wanted to be able to reuse their existing analogue phones so as to not have to relearn a new system (given their stressful situation) and to save costs.
INSIGHT: We knew that porting out a number from another carrier to us usually takes 3 to 5 days once the request is placed. We also knew that we had to come up with a way to reuse their existing phones.
SOLUTION: Once the customer had given us their phone bill and completed an LOA (Letter of Authorization), we were able to port over their main phone number in less than 3 days. Upon occupying their new office, we installed analogue-to-VoIP converters to interface with their existing phone sets all for less than what they were paying at their previous office. Business returned to normal and they were able to serve their customers as before.
